11 November – 12 December 2020
The main exhibition space of Qube Gallery is in Cebu City, Philippines with satellite walls in commercial areas within the city through partnership with the Abaca Group. We are a member gallery of Artsy, the world’s largest and premiere online art marketplace. Since 2013, we have participated in international art fairs including Art Kaoshiung and Art Tainan in Taiwan, Tokyo International Art Fair in Japan, Art Apart in Singapore, and Art Central in Hongkong.
Our directors believe that what sets a gallery apart is how it remains relevant to its community while being consistent in its aesthetic vision. To do so, we collaborate with guest curators and adjunct specialists to incubate and execute special events, projects, and exhibits.
Entitled “Ugat”, the show is a reference to this counter culture and examine how these cultural influences remain despite where artworks are placed: in the streets where they started, in the galleries where they are formally exhibited, or, eventually, in the walls where they are collected.
Organized by Distort Monsters, he chose these artists to represent various stages of transitioning their art from the “streets” into brick and mortar gallery spaces.
